Aluminum Aging Process
Aluminum aging is a process which uses the application of heat to change the properties of an alloy. It can also increase the hardness of the alloy. For each alloy that goes through the aging process, there is a unique range of time-temperature combinations to which it will respond. The hardening of an alloy could naturally happen over time in a process referred to as "natural aging".
Heat treating speeds up the process to achieve the desired end-use properties and is referred to as artificial aging. Aging ovens are commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and transportation industries to manufacture durable components for long-term use.
